the Details

Dan Rich was a father of two and grandfather of four, three of which participate with The First Tee.  He was a devoted family man who loved playing sports especially, the game of golf. Dan was always involved in his children’s sports activities and was a beloved fixture at Cole, Reagan, and Harrison’s The First Tee classes.  In 2017, Dan passed away. To ensure that his legacy and the family values that he stood for are carried on, The First Tee and the Rich Family will be hosting the 2nd Annual Dan Rich Family Golf Day on August 4th at Grande Vista Golf Club. The purpose of this event is to encourage families to play golf together and spend time together having fun.

There are 3 ways for your family to participate:

  • Family Golf Scramble and Scavenger Hunt
Families of The First Tee of Central Florida Participants $30 for up to 4 participants
Public $40 for up to 4 participants
    Tee Off at 10:00 am

Gather your family and put together a foursome or let us match you up with others for a nine-hole family golf scramble. The Family Golf Scramble is a great way for adults and children to play 9 holes of golf and spend quality time together.

    What is a Scramble?

A scramble is a format in which you can play golf. Two or more players form a team, with the rules emphasizing fun without the pressure of players keeping individual scores. Each player hits a tee shot on each hole, and everyone plays from the spot of the best shot.  The group can decide the best tee shot based on any criteria they choose. Usually the best shot is the longest drive that lands in the fairway. Or your team may choose a long tee shot that landed off the fairway in the rough if you have a decent lie.  All players then pick up their balls and hit from within one club length of the marked spot.  The team will then continue selecting the best shot until one player hits the ball in the hole. The team score is total of the best shots.  While the event is non-competitive, special prizes will be awarded for longest drive, closest to the pin and beat the pro on select holes!  Additionally, there will be a scavenger hunt to keep all engaged on the course throughout the day.  Don’t have equipment?  We will help provide!
