Through a strategic partnership with Hope Center West and its Affiliates, The First Tee of Central Florida will impact the Washington Shore community by positively influencing behaviors of young people by giving young people the opportunity to develop into contributing citizens through learning core values, life skills, and healthy habits inherent to the game of golf. This will be done by offering a large network of access points.
Though this partnership, young people will be given the tools that allow them to face challenges at home, school and play in a constructive manner. The skills they learn include problem solving, goal setting, time management, controlling one’s emotions, working well with others and improving relationships with family and community. The goal of this partnership is to see participants graduate from high school on time with the life skills needed to succeed in college and life, with the ability to make healthy choices and with the desire to positively impact their communities through golf and the adult mentorship they receive through The First Tee Program.
The First Tee – Hope Center West partnership will be launched out of Frontline Outreach, delivering The First Tee’s DRIVE Program. Frontline Outreach is one of Orlando’s longest running childhood education and leadership development center for urban youth and a Hope Center West affiliate. “The First Tee program of youth life skills development, college scholarships and career enhancement opportunities will significantly strengthen Frontline Outreach’s established track record of preparing young people to become world-class leaders through education and character-development,” says Bishop Wiggins.
Hope Center West incorporates housing, education, health and wellness, social, economic development and spiritual initiatives to create a Live, Work, Play, Learn and Worship Community.
